Role Summary
Soul Story Lab seeks a part-time Program & Editorial Associate to support the development and execution of its programs, communications, and partnerships. This role is designed for a mid-career or early-mid professional who is intellectually curious, a strong writer, and deeply interested in the intersection of faith, culture, media, and social impact.
The Associate will work closely with the Executive Director and contribute substantively to program development, research, and storytelling. This role is ideal for someone who wants hands-on experience building a new cultural institution and learning alongside senior leadership while being responsible for core organizational work.

Key Responsibilities
Editorial & Writing
Draft and edit newsletters, emails, and written updates for funders, partners, and community members
Support development of narrative language for reports, proposals, and program materials
Help shape editorial framing for Soul Story programming and media projects
Research & Program Development
Research creators, influencers, and cultural leaders
Track trends at the intersection of faith, digital media, and social impact
Support program planning by preparing background briefs, summaries, and talking points
Partnership & Field Support
Assist with preparation for partner meetings (research, agendas, follow-ups)
Participate in select external meetings as a representative of Soul Story
Support coordination with advisors, mentors, and collaborators as needed
General Program Support
Contribute ideas and feedback to program design, convenings, and media initiatives
Support documentation and synthesis of learnings across programs
Qualifications
3-5+ years of professional experience (not a student or intern)
Strong writing and editing skills; experience writing newsletters, essays, or editorial content
Demonstrated interest or background in one of more of the following: faith/spirituality, social justice, democracy/politics, creators/digital media
Sharp research skills and intellectual curiosity
Ability to manage their own time and work independently and collaboratively in a fully remote environment and with a small, evolving team
Strong judgment about when to move forward independently and when to seek input
Time Commitment (estimated)
12-15 hours per week initially
Compensation up to $6,000 per month, commensurate with experience (equivalent to approximately $100–125/hour, depending on hours and experience)
This is a part-time contract role
Potential for modest growth in hours and compensation as funding allows
Location Requirements
Candidates must be located within the United States to allow for significant overlap of working hours.
